Problem-solution Essay draft 1

Problem-solution essay draft 1

Social media has became the essential element in China. People depend heavily on social media in almost everything. For example exchange of information. Because the broaderness of social media. Information share by a single internet user can spread through the whole world in a blink second. It definitely benefit us in the speed, range and distance of spreading the information. It’s not exaggerate to say that the fast pace of development of today’s China depend heavily on social media. However social media like all other advance technology it not only bring the advantages, at the same time the disadvantages to the country. For example the circulation of false information. Due to the circulation of false information which can lead to serious problem like social unrest, it is necessary for China government to take up measures to control the accessibility of social media.

Most of the technologies act like a double sided blade. It depends on how the user want to use it. China as the country with the largest population in the world it is hard for the government to effectively control the information flow online by the citizens or even the world. Hence there are plenty of incidents that circulation of false information has cause chao in the country. False information such as prediction of floods, evidences of disasters, war information, terrorist information and even the death allowance of Chinese head leader and much more. These have cause not only the horror among the citizens and also drilling the citizens to do something that are not allow. Such false information have extremely harmful influence hence Chinese government have to come out with measure to limit all these circulation of false information.

The circulation of false information is travel fast in China, despite China’s large population. Another reason is because all these false information are touch on issues of common concern for example development of country, environmental issues, food safety and corruption. Citizens have to proper channel to prove that the information they have read is right or wrong but due to the high influence power of these information. They always rise up the anger among citizens which is the root for all social unrest. China government did come out with several measures to counter the problem, one of them is to rise internet security. Beside all the censorship programs. China currently develop a 3050000 of police force to protect internet security to prevent the circulation of false information on internet. They work day and night to view though information that was circulate on internet. Delete or capture the person who spreading the false information. However it was not that effective. It is because internet have too many way to deliver information, it’s hard for the security personel to control every information that deliver online. 3050000 against the number of social media users in China or even the world looks too powerless.

The second measure that take up by the china government is to limit the accessibility for all users in the country. Foreign websites in China become more and more difficult to access. Most of the foreign websites are make inaccessible in china by the government. Hence it effectively limit the damage done by the foreign country who want to attack china though internet.Moreover government work together with big local companies like Qianlong, Sogou, Sohu, Netease, Baidu and Sina Weibo microblogging service to control the information that deliver by their users which effectively limit the channel of circulate false information in the land. However it may not be effective as there are many ways that the users can choose to break though the social media wall that build by the government. For example multiple of tunelling websites.

It is clear that circulation of false information have become a serious problem in china. Although government have did several measures to counter the problem. But measures like increase internet security and limit the accessibility of internet were not enough to solve the problem. In my opinion the only way to solve the problem is to solve the problem with whoever use it but not the social media itself. Moreover Circulation of false information in social media will not only affect individual life or a country like china. It is the world wide issue that all countries shall pay attention to it. Who know the reason for next world war may start with a wide spread false information online.

Influential Event

I was a SAF medic. Like most of the Singaporean. Two years of army life leave many memories that change our life. That was no different from me.

I still remembered that was an outfield mission for one of the OCS company. I was the safety medic. Sitting inside the safety vehicle and praying hard for nothing would happen during the exercise. However luck seen to be not on my side, suddenly a loud burst of shouting of "medic" came out from the training ground. When I reach on sense I saw a cadet was dancing on the floor. yes literally dancing on the floor and whole body muscles cram up. I was stun for a second and all the different protocols under  different situations which I thought were useless initially were rushing though my mind. Thank god for the wonderful training provided by SAF I was quit enough to apply all the protocols for heat cram on the cadet ice bags, IV and fast evacuation. The essential on sense treatments prevented the cadet situation getting worst and when the MO in the medical center told me that I had save a life. I was so proud of myself.and the most memorable moment is when the cadet recover and come to medical center to say thank you to me. That was the moment I will never forget. I save a life.

From this event I have learn that we need to be well prepare all the time especially when something is under your responsibility we need to put up an right attitude towards everything. you may not know when you will become another person's hero.

Reader response draft3

In the article  ‘Who is the true enemy of internet freedom-China, Russia, or the US?’- Morozov(2015), the author mention that the US is the true enemy of internet freedom.The article shows that the US is the one who force other countries like China and Russia to action whenever US threaten their internet space. The article also mention that China and Russia try to control their citizens’ internet accessibility by forcing browsers to change their internet service from US companies to their own companies in order to retain their internet sovereignty. On the other hand US tries to control and access user data on a global scale as long as the data is stored on American server.

China and Russia take actions to limit browser accessibility and impose heavy restrictions on internet freedom, ultimately the US is to be blamed for the implementation of these actions, which become necessary when so much of a country relies on the internet infrastructure to remain function.

Internet access has become a necessary tool for daily life in developed countries, and this means that whoever controls the internet may very well be the next dominant power in the future. Hence its absolutely reasonable, and in fact necessary for individual countries to actively defend their own internet freedoms.

The US has a big advantage in the internet game. As mentioned in the passage, much of the communication infrastructure is run by Silicon Valley, not to mention the US ownership of most of the giant internet companies. Many of these companies are branched out to the whole world, and this builds up a hardware infrastructure that will prove hard to remove by the local government. Evidently, the US holds a vastly better hand compared to other countries, and still they wish to be allowed to access any data stored on any device or server originating from the USA. This insistence is clearly absurd, and as the author put it, "Just imagine the outcry if the Chinese government were to demand access to any data that passes through devices manufactured by Chinese companies- Xiaomi, say, or Lenovo- regardless of whether their users are in London or New York or Tokyo." Let us think on a question: what if a country has a free access to essentially all the data on internet, and the governing body decided to make full use of it? The damage that can be done will be no doubt set a precedent for widespread chaos.

The measures undertaken by China and Russia in order to protect their online borders are, in the wake of these considerations, very understandable. This is a war, and no one likes to lose in the war. The internet freedoms that are mentioned here, no longer refer to the privacy of individual browser, but rather the collective online freedom of countries.

“One man’s internet freedom is another man’s internet imperialism.”This statement forms the basis of a great number of recent international conflicts, and I wholeheartedly agree with it.

The article shows that although China and Russia take actions to limit browser accessibility and impose heavy restrictions on internet freedom, ultimately the US is to be blamed for the implementation of these actions.

Facebook, Twitter and their social media cousins, all of which belong to US companies, may not have been the direct cause of the revolution, but they definitely served an important role in accelerating the revolution.
The measures undertaken by China and Russia in order to protect their online borders are, in the wake of these considerations,  very understandable. This is a war, and no one likes to lose in a war. Based on my understanding, the internet freedoms that are mentioned here no longer refer to  the privacy of individual browsers, but the rather the collective online freedom of countries.
One man’s internet freedom is another man’s internet imperialism. This sentiment forms the basis of a great number of recent international conflicts, and I wholeheartedly agree with it.

‘Who’s the true enemy of internet freedom-China, Russia, or the US?’ Summary

In the article ‘Who’s the true enemy of internet freedom-China, Russia, or the US?’ -Morozov(2015), the author mentioned that the US is the true enemy of internet freedom. The article shows that the US is the one who forces other countries like China and Russia to take up action in order to defend their own internet territories. China and Russia try to control their citizens' internet accessibility by forcing the browsers to change their internet services from US companies to their own country's companies. On the other hand, the US tries to control browser information on a global scale.

My English Language Learning Journey

I started to learn English in primary school. At the time, English did not seem so important to me, it was just another subject where I needed to remember some words and simple phrases to get an A. Due to my good memory, achieving good results for English at that point of time was easy.

However, things changed after I came to Singapore. English became the fundamental language for everything. When the twenty six letters flowed in and out of my ear without making any sense, I knew I was doomed. English became a nightmare for me, along with every other subject that was taught in English, all of which I did terribly bad in. The real study started after school; I put almost all my time towards learning the English language, every word in the textbook would be translated into something that was not so alien to me. Crazy English Li Ling became my best friend and the BBC was my lullaby every night. My command of the English language eventually improved over time, but my positive and motivated learning attitude did not last long after I realized I could pass my examination, as English was still not important to me; a perspective I now regret.

The English language became much more important as my education progressed. Good speaking and writing skills will always give you an edge over those without them. Therefore, I hope I will greatly improve my english language skills after the course.
